FN0317-RECREATIONAL - General Information - Mandatory online Internet Recreational Effort and Catch (iREC) reporting program for all Adult BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence holders
MANDATORY REPORTING OF RECREATIONAL FISHING AND CATCHES: Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) collects data on recreational fishing activity from adult BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence holders through the internet recreational effort and catch (iREC) reporting program. This reporting program collects information on fishing activity and kept and released catch of over 80 species of finfish and shellfish. The data collected through this reporting program is critical to the department's assessment and management of the recreational fishery. Other targeted reporting programs will be conducted as needed to collect additional information. Every adult Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence will be automatically selected for one month of the iREC reporting program. Licence holders are required to report on their fishing activity for one of the months that their licence is valid but not more than one; this policy is intended to limit the amount of time each licence holder spends reporting. A link to the iREC reporting program, a unique access ID and the closing date is printed on each licence. It is a condition of the BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence to complete the reporting program before the program's closing date. YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED: You will be sent an e-mail with an access link and additional information to assist you in completing your report. For this reason, it is important that you ensure that your current e-mail address is entered in the licensing system. To update your e-mail address go to: https://recfish-pechesportive.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/nrls-sndpp/index-eng.cfm The iREC reporting program is conducted for DFO by PRA Inc. Individual responses remain strictly confidential and are protected in accordance with the provisions of the federal Privacy Act: http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/P-21/index.html Thank you for your cooperation and contribution to this important reporting program.
