Fishery Notice

UPDATE:

The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide), Domoic Acid Poisoning (also known as Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP)), Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) and other marine toxin closures for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck). Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures. For information on sewage contamination and biotoxin closures please go to:

Area 19
Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish in Subareas 19-7 to 19-12.

The most recent marine biotoxin results were unacceptable. 

Please see the summary table for the status of all subareas in Area 19.

Subarea 7-25 (Closure 7-25.A) (described below) closed to all bivalve shellfish;

Details are broken into Areas and Subareas, as managed by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO).  Subarea information is not in the British Columbia Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Guide, but it is readily available in non-navigable Subarea management charts that can be obtained at DFO offices.
