Effective October 26, 2017 until November 30, 2017 the daily limit of chum salmon is four (4) per day, in the Nanaimo River from the upstream side of the Cedar Road Bridge, upstream to the end of Boswell Road (Firehall Pool). Note that portion of Subarea 17-4 in the tidal portion of the Nanaimo River from the Cedar Bridge downstream approximately 400m to a white square boundary sign is a finfish closure from October 25 to November 30. This area is closed to all recreational fishing. Variation Order No. 2017-566 (close time) and 2017-567 (quota) Notes: Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal waters of British Columbia. The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the adipose fin. Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information. Anglers are advised to check http://bcsportfishguide.ca for fishing closures and other recreational fishing information.
