Subject:
FN0906-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Pink - Region 3 - Retention in Kamloops Lake and South Thompson Rivers - Amendment to FN0886
This notice amends FN0886 to correct the daily chinook possession limits on Kamloops Lake. The full corrected notice follows. Kamloops Lake: Effective 00:01 hours Friday, September 1 until Friday, September 22, 2017 in the waters of Kamloops Lake, you may retain: - Four (4) chinook per day, only one (1) of which may be over 50 cm; - Two (2) pink salmon per day. The daily aggregate limit of four salmon per day remains. South Thompson River: Effective 00:01 hours Friday, September 1 until Friday, September 22, 2017 in the waters of the South Thompson River from the green can buoy near the outlet of Little River, including Little Shuswap Lake, to the fishing boundary sign approximately 100 m downstream of Campbell Creek, you may retain: - Four (4) chinook per day, only two (2) of which may be over 50 cm; - Two (2) pink salmon per day. The daily aggregate limit of four salmon per day still applies. There is a monthly quota of six (6) chinook over 50 cm from the South Thompson River. Fishing in Region 3 is permitted during daylight hours only. Anglers should avoid using fishing methods that catch sockeye salmon and fish selectively. The first principle of selective harvesting is to avoid catching non-targeted stocks. Please note that bottom bouncing with long leaders is NOT considered a selective fishing method and is strongly discouraged. The Department will monitor the situation to ensure impacts on sockeye are at a minimum. Single barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in non-tidal waters of British Columbia.
