FN1331- Sanitary - Amendment to FN1328- Changes to Sanitary Closures for Bivalve Shellfish in Areas 10, 14, 18, 20, 23 and 25
The following new, revised or revoked sanitary shellfish closure boundaries are now in effect as a result of recommendations from the Pacific Region Interdepartmental Shellfish Committee: Closure 10.1 Margaret Bay - a new closure is now in effect in the following area: The waters and intertidal foreshore surrounding the shellfish aquaculture tenure (LF#5407228) in Margaret Bay, lying inside a line drawn in a 125 m radius from any point on the perimeter of the tenure, commencing from a point on land in the west at 51°20.08' north latitude and 127°30.15' west longitude, and ending at a point on land in the east at 51°20.09' north latitude and 127° 29.81' west longitude. [NAD 83] January 1 to December 31 Closure 14.6 Qualicum Beach - the existing closure has been revoked. Closure 14.26 Hall Road, Columbia Beach - the existing closure has been revoked. Closure 14.31 Qualicum Beach - a new closure is now in effect in the following area: The intertidal foreshore of Qualicum Beach from a point on land at 49° 21.59' north latitude and 124° 28.26' west longitude 400 m northwest of the mouth of Grandon Creek following the intertidal boundary easterly to a point on land at 49° 21.62' north latitude and 124° 25.24' west longitude, 300 m east of the Hall Road Pump Station. (NAD 83) January 1 to December 31 Closure 18.33 Burgoyne Bay, Saltspring Island - the existing closure has been expanded and is now in effect in the following area: The waters and intertidal foreshore of Burgoyne Bay lying inside a line drawn from a point on land at 48°47.66' north latitude and 123°31.31' west longitude southeasterly following the high water mark to a point on land at 48°47.46' north latitude and 123°31.08' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a point on land at 48°47.27' north latitude and 123°31.20' west longitude, thence northwesterly following the high water mark to a point on land at 48°47.41 ' north latitude and 123°31.92' west longitude, and thence northeasterly in a straight line to the point of commencement. (NAD 83) January 1 to December 31 Closure 20.9 Sooke Bay - a new closure is now in effect in the following area: The waters of Sooke Bay within a radius of 300 m of the wastewater outfall terminus at 48º21.19' north latitude and 123º46.16' west longitude. [NAD 83] January 1 to December 31 Closure 23.2 Mouth of Ucluelet Inlet - the existing closure has been expanded and is now in effect in the following area: The waters and intertidal foreshore of Ucluelet Inlet and a portion of Newcombe Channel, Barkley Sound inside a line drawn from a point of land on the southeast side of the Ucluth Peninsula by Spring Cove at 48º55.57' north latitude and 125º31.56' west longitude thence southeasterly to the northernmost point of Francis Island at 48º55.46' north latitude and 125º31.43' west longitude thence following the shoreline southwesterly to the southernmost point of Francis Island at 48º55.29' north latitude and 125º31.45' west longitude thence southerly to the easternmost point of Jenny Reef at 48º55.00' north latitude and 125º31.50' west longitude thence southeasterly to an islet in the George Fraser Islands at 48º54.79' north latitude and 125º30.97' west longitude thence northeasterly to a point of land at 48º55.31' north latitude and 125º30.48' west longitude thence following the shoreline and returning to the point of commencement. [NAD 83] January 1 to December 31 Closure 25.31 Plumper Harbour, Nootka Sound - the existing closure has been revoked. Closure 25.32 Head Bay, Tlupana Inlet - a new closure is now in effect in the following area: The waters and intertidal foreshore in Head Bay, Tlupana Inlet, within a distance of 125 m from the foot of the Canton Creek Lodge dock located at 49° 47.78' north latitude and 126° 28.88' west longitude. [NAD 83] January 1 to December 31 Closure 25.33 Moutcha Bay, Tlupana Inlet - a new closure is now in effect in the following area: The waters and intertidal foreshore surrounding the Moutcha Bay Lodge site in Tlupana Inlet, lying inside a line drawn in a 125 m radius from any point on the perimeter of the infrastructure encompassing the dock, sewage outfall pipe, and fish holding pens at the Conuma hatchery docks. The closure commences from a point on land in the west at 49° 47.31' north latitude and 126° 27.83' west longitude, ending at a point on land in the east at 49° 47.36' north latitude and 126° 27.30' west longitude. [NAD 83] January 1 to December 31 Closure 25.34 Moutcha Bay, Tlupana Inlet - a new closure is now in effect in the following area: The waters and intertidal foreshore of Moutcha Bay, Tlupana Inlet, inside a line drawn from the point on land located at 49° 47.40' north latitude and 126° 27.07' west longitude, thence southeasterly to a point on land located at 49° 47.09' north latitude and 126° 26.79' west longitude." [NAD 83] January 1 to December 31 Closure 25.4 Tlupana Inlet, Nootka Sound - the existing closure has been revoked. Note that this notice does not describe other sanitary closures which may be in effect, or Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide), Domoic Acid Poisoning and Diarrheic Shellfish Poisoning and other marine biotoxin closures.
