FN1037-Bivalve Shellfish: Marine Biotoxin - Update for Area 23 and Summary for all Areas - September 23, 2016.
UPDATE: Maps of Fishery Management Areas and Subareas can be found at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.htm Area 23 Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for geoduck and horse clams is lifted in Subareas 23-5 and 23-8. The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable. Please see the summary table for the status of all subareas in Area 23. SUMMARY: The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide), Domoic Acid Poisoning (also known as Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP)), Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) and other marine toxin closures as of September 23, 2016 for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck). Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures.
