Area 2E
The Area 2E Charter started chum assessment on September 16 in Cumshewa Inlet
and then moved south to Darwin Sound to assess chum and pink abundance. No
commercial opportunities were found at that time. The test vessel departs

Louscoone Inlet depending on weather.

Next update for 2E will be on Monday, September 26.

Selwyn Inlet - present at below target abundance
Darwin Sound - present at low abundance

Area 2W
The Fishery Manager completed a second assessment of Shields Bay and Clapp
Basin on Monday, September 16. Conditions for assessment were ideal. Very few
jumpers were observed and Mountain Creek will likely meet target.

The Fishery Manager also completed an assessment of chum streams from West
Skidegate Channel to Tasu Sound on Wednesday, September 21. Conditions for
assessment were ideal. Tasu Sound (Botany Creek) had small schools of finners
and jumpers in the estuary with a cumulative observed return that appears well
below target. The presence of jumpers on the outside was very low. Chum
abundance in all other areas was also well below target. No fishing
opportunities are anticipated at this time. The Area 2W Charter departs
Skidegate Inlet for Tasu Sound on Friday, September 23.

The next update for 2W will be Monday, September 26.

Rennel Sound - present at target levels, no fishing opportunities are
anticipated at this time
West Skidegate - present at well below target abundance
Englefield Inlet - present at well below target abundance
