FN1032-YUKON/TBR - COMMERCIAL Salmon: Gill Net - Taku River - Opening September 25, 2016
That portion of the Taku River within an area located approximately 50 (fifty) metres upstream of the International Boundary between Canada and the United States of America, to boundary signs near Yellow Bluff approximately 18 (eighteen) kilometres upstream of the International Boundary, excluding Flannigan and Southfork sloughs as identified by boundary signs will be open to commercial fishing for Chinook, sockeye and coho salmon from: 1200 hours September 25, 2016 until 1200 hours September 30, 2016. Variation Order No. 2016-TAR-42 The maximum gill net depth shall not exceed 60 meshes. The maximum gill net hang ratio shall not exceed three fathoms of mesh to one fathom of corkline (3:1). The minimum corkline to web distance shall not be less than 0 (zero) centimetres. The maximum corkline to web distance may not exceed 45 (forty- five) centimetres. Please be advised that the minimum allowable mesh size of gill nets used in this fishery shall not be less than 100 millimetres. The maximum allowable mesh size of gill nets used in this fishery shall not exceed 204 millimetres. This fishery is targeting on salmon. Notice of this opening is subject to change should additional protection be necessary. Please note that catch estimates ("hails") may be requested by a departmental representative at any point during the opening to inform fishery management decisions.
