Invertebrates, Manila and littleneck: Savary Island Fishing for littleneck and manila clams by hand picking is permitted from 02:00 hours September 26, 2016 to 16:00 hours September 26, 2016 by hand picking for 1 tide in a portion of Subarea 15-2, described as the intertidal foreshore of Savary Island only. All clams are to be landed at Lund. Area C Proper remains closed. Variation Order Number 2016-426 Harvesting is prohibited in all sanitary contamination closures. Harvesters are responsible for checking Fishery Notices for the Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Updates, as recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO. For descriptions of Sanitary and Biotoxin closures see the DFO website at http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.htm All eligible fishers must have their 2016 licence and meet the conditions of that licence (wear a high visibility vest with licence number clearly marked on it and the sacks of clams must be immediately tagged with the licence number as soon as clams are placed in it). All licence holders must carry valid photo identification along with their licences. Fishers should consult the 2016/18 Intertidal Clam Management Plan and the local DFO office for descriptions of closed areas and contact numbers for further information.
