FN0626-Recreational Salmon: Area 29 - Salmon Management Actions for the tidal waters of the Fraser River.
Further to FN0523, the Department will be managing fisheries based on management zone 1 (i.e. returns to the Fraser below or equal to 45,000 chinook). Effective dates: Immediately until July 31, 2016. Waters: Tidal waters of the Fraser River. (from the downstream edge of the CPR bridge at Mission to the mouth). Management measure: You may not fish for salmon. Adjustments to management actions may be required to account for adverse environmental conditions and associated uncertainties. Management actions starting August 1, 2016 will be announced in a separate fishery notice. VARIATION ORDER NUMBER: 2016-295 and 301. Notes: Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal waters of British Columbia. The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the adipose fin. Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information. Anglers are advised to check: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/rec/index-eng.html for fishing closures and other recreational fishing information.
