FN1268-RECREATIONAL - Invertebrates - Area 7 - Recreational Clam Opening
Effective 00:01 Hours November 13, 2015 the waters of Gunboat Pass from a North/South line between Manson Point and Cone Point East to the boundary line between Madigan Point and Georgie Point in Pacific Fisheries Management Subarea 7-17 are open for the recreational harvest of Manila Clams, Littleneck Clams and Mussels. This opening will remain in effect pending acceptable results from the on-going marine biotoxin monitoring program. Environment Canada Sanitary Closure 7.19 remains in effect. Harvesters are reminded that the daily aggregate bag limit for Littleneck and Manila Clams is 75. The daily aggregate limit for mussels is 75 of which 25 may be California mussels. The possession limit is twice the daily limit. A tidal waters sport fishing licence is required to harvest intertidal clams. Variation Order 2015-553 is in effect. Fish harvesters are advised that there are contaminated closures in the vicinity. Information on specific closure areas is available on the internet at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/index-eng.htm Bivalve shellfish are susceptible to Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP) and other marine biotoxins and biotoxin closures may occur. All bivalve shellfish harvesters must check before they harvest to ensure that the area is not closed.
