UPDATE: Maps of Fishery Management Areas and Subareas can be found at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.htm Area 2 Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for geoduck and horse clams is lifted in Subarea 2-15. The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable. Please see the summary table for the status of all subareas in Area 2. Area 25 Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish in Subarea 25-13. The product may be contaminated given the deviance from the sampling requirements established under the biotoxin monitoring program. Please see the summary table for the status of all subareas in Area 25. Area 26 Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish in Subarea 26-1. The product may be contaminated given the deviance from the sampling requirements established under the biotoxin monitoring program. SUMMARY: The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine toxin closures as of October 22, 2015 for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck). Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures. Area 2 Subarea 2-1 closed to all bivalve shellfish except oysters and scallops; Subareas 2-14 and 2-15 closed to all bivalve shellfish except geoduck and horse clams; Balance of Area 2 closed to all bivalve shellfish. Area 3 Closed to all bivalve shellfish. Area 4 The waters and intertidal foreshore of a portion of Subarea 4-9 inside a line that commences at a point on the shore of Digby Island at 54°17.371' north latitude and 130°27.654' west longitude, thence to a point on the shore of the largest of the Lucy Islands at 54°17.666' north latitude and 130°36.575 west longitude, thence to a point on the shore of Rachel Island at 54°12.770' north latitude and 130°33.643' west longitude, thence to a point on the shore of Digby Island at 54°15.865' north latitude and 130°25.623' west longitude, thence following the shore of Digby Island to the point of commencement, closed to all bivalve shellfish except scallops; Balance of Area 4 closed to all bivalve shellfish. Subarea information is not in the British Columbia Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Guide, but it is readily available in non-navigable Subarea management charts that can be obtained at DFO offices. In addition, descriptions of Subareas are set out in the Pacific Fishery Management Area Regulations, 2007.
