FN1133-SANITARY - Weather warning for North Coast, Haida Gwaii and North Vancouver Island

Please note that a heavy rainfall warning has been issued by Environment Canada
for the North Coast, Haida Gwaii, and North Vancouver Island.

Heavy rainfall events often lead to excess surface runoff and/or flooding,
thereby adversely affecting marine water quality.

Harvesters are advised that heavy rainfall may lead to emergency shellfish
closures, particularly when the storm is preceded by a prolonged dry period,
and should plan their harvesting activities accordingly.

WEATHER WARNING
Issued at 2015-10-08 4:26 AM PDT by Environment Canada:
Rainfall warning in effect for:

Haida Gwaii
North Coast - inland sections

Current details:
Heavy rain is expected. The remnants of Hurricane Oho will approach the North
Coast tonight as a strong post-tropical low pressure system. With the tropical
origin of the low, heavy rain will affect the North Coast and Haida Gwaii
tonight and Friday. Rainfall amounts of 50 to 70 mm can be expected from
tonight to Friday as the low moves across the region.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

WEATHER STATEMENT
Issued at 2015-10-08 4:58 AM PDT by Environment Canada
Special weather statement in effect for:
     Haida Gwaii
     North Coast - coastal sections
     North Vancouver Island
High winds and heavy rain through Sunday.
A series of storms will take aim at the North and Central Coasts from today
through Sunday night. A front will move across the region today with wet and
windy conditions expected. From tonight into Friday stronger southeasterly
winds and heavier rain are forecast as an intense storm develops from the
remnants of Hurricane Oho, as it races northward towards Haida Gwaii. Rain and
wind warnings are now in effect for this storm. The storm will move north of
the region by Friday evening.

In the wake of this storm a strong westerly flow will bring another disturbance
to the Central Coast Saturday morning with yet another storm impacting the
North Coast on Sunday. Computer models are estimating rainfall accumulations in
the 100 to 200 mm range for the above mentioned areas from Friday through
Sunday night.

Rainfall Warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please
monitor local media or Weatheradio Canada, or refer to the attached website.
