UPDATE: Maps of Fishery Management Areas and Subareas can be found at: http://www.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/fm-gp/contamination/biotox/index-eng.htm Area 1 Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish in Subarea 1-5. This closure is due to a rapid rise in toxin levels in adjacent areas. The next planned sample cannot be obtained and/or analysed within a reasonable time frame to ensure consumer safety. Please see the summary table in the attached Fishery Notice for the status of all subareas in Area 1. SUMMARY: The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine toxin closures as of September 29,2014 for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck). Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures.
