Area 12
Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for butter clams and cockles is 
lifted in Subareas 12-16 and 12-17. 

The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable.

Please see the summary table below for the current status of all subareas in 
Area 12.

Area 24

Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish 
in Subareas 24-3, 24-4, 24-6, 24-7, 24-13 and 24-14. 

The product may be contaminated given the deviance from the sampling 
requirements established under the biotoxin monitoring program. 

Please see the summary table below for the current status of all subareas in 
Area 24.

Area 25
Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for all bivalve shellfish 
in Subareas 25-13 and 25-14. 

The most recent marine biotoxin results were unacceptable.

SUMMARY:

The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish 
Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine toxin closures as of April 30, 2014 
for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck).  Note 
that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures. For

Area 1
Subarea 1-5 closed to all bivalve shellfish except razor clams;
Balance of Area 1 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Areas 2 to 4
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 5
Subareas 5-11, 5-20 and 5-21 closed to all bivalve shellfish except geoduck and 
horse clams;
Balance of Area 5 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Areas 6 to 11
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 12
Subareas 12-16 and 12-17 closed to all bivalve shellfish except butter clams 
and cockles;
Balance of Area 12 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 13
Subarea 13-1 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck 
clams, oysters, mussels and pink and spiny scallops;

That portion of Subarea 23-6 north of a line drawn from an unnamed point of 
land at 48°59.41' north latitude and 125°11.11' west longitude, due west to an 
unnamed point of land at 48°59.41' north latitude and 125°11.78' west 
longitude, known as Effingham Inlet and that portion of Subarea 23-6 northeast 
of a line drawn from a point of land at 48 degrees 58.47 minutes north latitude 
and 125 degrees 04.92 minutes west longitude to a point of land at 48 degrees 
58.61 minutes north latitude and 125 degrees 05.05 minutes west longitude, 
known as Useless Inlet closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters and mussels;
Balance of Subarea 23-6 closed to all bivalve shellfish;
Balance of Area 23 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 24
Subareas 24-8 and 24-9 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters and mussels;
Balance of Area 24 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 25
Subareas 25-4 to 25-12 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters and mussels;

NOTES:
Details are broken into Areas and Subareas, as managed by Fisheries and Oceans 
Canada (DFO).  Subarea information is not in the British Columbia Tidal Waters 
Sport Fishing Guide, but it is readily available in non-navigable Subarea 
management charts that can be obtained at DFO offices.  In addition, 
descriptions of Subareas are set out in the Pacific Fishery Management Area 
Regulations, 2007.  These regulations are available at libraries and from the
