The results for the recently completed Tuna Advisory Board election are now available. The owners of 221 unique vessels were deemed eligible to vote and were mailed ballots in November, 2012. Here are the results by zone: USA Zone: Received 36 ballots out of 109 eligible vessels. The elected TAB advisors are: - Gregg Holm (30 votes) - Ian Bryce (28 votes) - Larry Teague (26 votes) Canadian Zone: Received 46 ballots out of 214 eligible vessels. The elected TAB advisor is: - Tom Lindberg (37 votes) High Seas Zone: Received 16 ballots out of 53 eligible vessels. The elected TAB advisor is: - Bob McIntosh (14 votes) All of the above elected TAB advisors have accepted their seats on TAB and will sit for a four year period, from 2013-2016. DFO recognizes the industry advisory process as an extremely important forum with the tuna industry. Your participation in the selection process and ongoing involvement through your elected advisors is important and appreciated. In addition to electing commercial TAB representatives, DFO will continue to appoint other members to represent First Nations, processors, recreational fishing, and environmental organizations as required. The next TAB meeting has not been scheduled at this time; meeting details will be released as soon as they have been determined. The location for the next TAB meeting is anticipated to be in Victoria, BC.
