FN1192-COMMERCIAL - Salmon Troll - Area G Update
The Area G winter troll fishery opened November 19, 2012. In consultation with Area G harvest committee advisors a target catch of 2000 chinook was set for this portion of the fishery. The catch estimated to Sunday December 16 is 532 chinook. The total boat days fished to December 16 is 40. As a result of the current catch estimate and the established target catch this fishery will remain open at this time. Please note that the fishery could close on short notice if it appears the target catch will be achieved. An Area G harvest committee advisors meeting is tentatively scheduled for the week of January 14th to discuss the fishing plan for the remainder of the winter fishing period (ending March 15). Based on the outcome of the advisors meeting a Fishery Notice will be released with details of the fishing plan for the next portion of the winter fishery. Area G fishers are reminded that effective 00:01 hours January 01, 2013 the retention of marked coho is no longer permitted. FOR MORE INFORMATION: Alistair Thomson 250-756-7294
