Area 24
Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for geoduck and horse clams is 
lifted in Subarea 24-6. 

The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable.


SUMMARY:

The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish 
Poisoning (PSP, red tide) and other marine toxin closures as of November 05, 
2012 for bivalve shellfish (oysters, clams, scallops, mussels, and geoducks).  
Note that this fishery notice does not describe sewage contamination closures.

Area 1
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 2
Subarea 2-1 closed to all bivalve shellfish except oysters and scallops; 
Subareas 2-49 to 2-60, 2-63 to 2-66, and 2-68 to 2-71 closed to all bivalve 
shellfish except geoduck and horse clams;
Balance of Area 2 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Areas 3 to 12
Closed to all bivalve shellfish. 

Area 13
Subareas 13-3 to 13-11 closed to butter clams only;
Subarea 13-15 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck 
clams, oysters, mussels, geoducks and horse clams;
Balance of Area 13 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 14 
Subareas 14-1, 14-2, 14-4 and 14-13 closed to all bivalve shellfish; 
Subareas 14-3 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck 
clams, oysters and mussels only; 
Subareas 14-6, 14-7, 14-9, 14-10, 14-12 and 14-14 closed to butter clams and 
scallops only; 
Subarea 14-11 closed to scallops only; 
Subareas 14-5, 14-8 and 14-15 closed to butter clams only. 

Area 15
Subareas 15-1 to 15-3 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters, mussels, geoduck and horse clams;
That portion of Subarea 15-5 south of a line drawn from a point on the 
northeast shoreline of Raza Island at 50°18.26' north latitude and 124°58.10' 
west longitude, thence easterly to a point on the west coast of West Redonda 
Island at 50°18.12' north latitude and 124°55.48' west longitude, thence 
southerly following the shoreline of West Redonda Island to a point at 50°
12.29' north latitude and 124°56.55' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a 
point on the northeast coast of Cortez Island at 50°11.74' north latitude and 
124°56.94' west longitude, thence northwesterly following the shoreline of 
Cortez Island to Bullock Bluff, thence true north following the boundary line 
to Raza Island, and thence following the shoreline northeasterly back to the 
point of commencement, is closed to all bivalve shellfish; 
Balance of Subarea 15-5 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters and mussels; 
Balance of Area 15 closed to all bivalve shellfish.   

Area 16
Subareas 16-1, 16-2 and 16-22 closed to all bivalve shellfish except geoduck 
and horse clams only;
Subareas 16-5 to 16-9, 16-11 to 16-13 closed to butter clams, scallops, geoduck 
and horse clams only;
Subarea 16-16 closed to butter clams, geoduck and horse clams only;
Subareas 16-19 and 16-21 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters, mussels, geoduck and horse clams;
Subarea 16-20 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck 
clams, oysters and mussels only;
Balance of Area 16 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 17
Subareas 17-1 to 17-3, 17-8, 17-9, 17-12, 17-18 to 17-21 closed to all bivalve 
shellfish; 
Subareas 17-4 to 17-7 and 17-13 to 17-16 closed to all bivalve shellfish except 
manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and mussels; 
Subareas 17-10, 17-17 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, 
littleneck clams, oysters, mussels, geoduck and horse clams;

Area 18
Subarea 18-3 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck

Subareas 20-6 and 20-7 are closed to butter clams and scallops only;

Area 23
Subarea 23-6, except that portion northeast of a line drawn from a point of 
land at 48 degrees 58.47 minutes north latitude and 125 degrees 04.92 minutes 
west longitude to a point of land at 48 degrees 58.61 minutes north latitude 
and 125 degrees 05.05 minutes west longitude, known as Useless Inlet, closed to 
all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and 
mussels; 
That portion of Subarea 23-6 northeast of a line drawn from a point of land at 
48 degrees 58.47 minutes north latitude and 125 degrees 04.92 minutes west 
longitude to a point of land at 48 degrees 58.61 minutes north latitude and 125 
degrees 05.05 minutes west longitude, known as Useless Inlet, closed to all 
bivalve shellfish; 
Balance of Area 23 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 24
Subarea 24-6 closed to all bivalve shellfish except geoduck and horse clams; 
Subarea 24-9 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck 
clams, oysters and mussels; 
Balance of Area 24 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

NOTES:
Details are broken into Areas and Subareas, as managed by Fisheries and Oceans 
Canada (DFO).  Subarea information is not in the British Columbia Tidal Waters 
Sport Fishing Guide, but it is readily available in non-navigable Subarea 
management charts that can be obtained at DFO offices.  In addition, 
descriptions of Subareas are set out in the Pacific Fishery Management Area 
Regulations, 2007.  These regulations are available at libraries and from the
