FN0813-COMMERCIAL - Crab - South Coast - Commercial fishery re-opens in seasonal closures September 15, 2012


Re-opening to commercial fishing for dungeness and red rock crabs by ring net, 
dip net, and trap in the Nanaimo Harbour, Sechelt Inlet, Kuper Island, Becher 
Bay, Pedder Bay and Sooke Harbour seasonal first nations and recreational 
access closures from 00:01 hours September 15, 2012 until further notice.

The following areas remain open effective 00:01 hours September 15, 2012 to 
commercial crab fishing for dungeness and red rock crabs by ring net, dip net, 
and trap:

1. Areas 11, 15, 21, 22, 26, and 27. 
2. Area 12 except for Subarea 12-19 Nimpkish River estuary. 
3. Area 13 except for the Discovery Passage Dioxin Closure Area including the 
Elk Bay, Kannish Bay, Chonat Bay, Deep Water Bay Areas, the Francisco Point 
North Closure Area, the Owen Bay Closure Area, and the Heydon Bay First Nations 
and Recreational Closure area (portion of Subarea 13-43).
4. Area 14 except for the Comox Harbour First Nations and Recreational Access 
Closure Area (Subareas 14-11 and 14-14).
5. Area 16 except for Subarea 16-4 (Pender Harbour) and a portion of Subarea 16-
5 at the head of Sechelt Inlet (First Nations and Recreational Access Closure).
6. Area 17 except for the Stuart Channel Dioxin Closures (Subareas 17-9 and 
portions of 17-4, 17-5, 17-6 and 17-7).
7. Area 18 except for the Burgoyne Bay and Maple Bay Dioxin Closure Areas; the 
Cowichan Bay (Subarea 18-8) First Nations and Recreational Closure Area; the 
Fulford Harbour (Subarea 18-10) First Nations and Recreational Access Closure 
Area; Dinner Bay (portion of Subarea 18-2) First Nations and Recreational 
Access Closure Area; Horton Bay (portion of Subarea 18-5) First Nations and 
Recreational Access Closure Area; the Ganges Bay Navigation Closure Area 
(portion of Subarea 18-3); and the Satellite Channel Ecological Reserve closure 
(portions of Subareas 18-6 and 18-7). 
8. Area 19 except for the Victoria Harbour Dioxin Closure Area (portion of 
Subarea 19-1); Sidney Spit Recreational Access Closure Area (subarea 19-6); 
Ogden Point Marine Reserve Closure Area (portion of Subarea 19-3); Race Rocks 
Marine Reserve Closure Area; Tsehum Harbour Navigation Closure Area (portion of 
Subarea 19-5); and Cordova Channel First Nations and Recreational access 
closure (portion of Subarea 19-5). 
9. Area 20 except for the San Juan First Nations and Recreational Access 
Closure Area (portion of Subarea 20-2); those waters of Subareas 19-3 and 20-5 
within 0.5 nautical miles of Great Race Rock (Race Rocks Marine Reserve 
Closure); Becher Bay year-round First Nations and Recreational Access Closure 
area (portion of Subarea 20-5).
10. Area 23 except for the Alberni Inlet (Subarea 23-1) First Nations and 
Recreational Access Closure Area; Pacific Rim National Park Closure Area, 
Broken Islands Group, (portions of Subareas 23-6 to 23-9 and 23-11. 
11. Area 24 except for the Clayoquot Sound Navigation Closure Area; and 
Ahousaht First Nations and Recreational Access Closure area (portion of Subarea 
24-4). 
12. Area 25 except for the Muchalat Inlet Dioxin Closure Area (Subareas 25-1, 
25-2, and 25-3). 
13. Subarea 29-5. 
14. Offshore Areas 111, 121, 123 to 127.
