FN0807-YUKON/TBR-DOMESTIC. Domestic Fishing Regulations change for salmon gillnet and fishwheel fishing in the Yukon, Pelly and Stewart Rivers located in the Yukon Transboundary Rivers Area of Pacific Region


      
Those portions of the Yukon River, downstream from a fishing boundary sign 
located near the confluence of White River and the Yukon River to a boundary 
sign located near Sheep Rock other than described in section 6(15)(a), (b), 
(c), and (d) of the Yukon Territory Fishing Regulations will open to domestic 
salmon fishing with gillnet and/or fishwheels for a 38 day period 12:00 hours 
(Noon), September 7, 2012 until 12:00 hours (Noon), October 15, 2012.

Those portions of the Yukon River, upstream from a fishing boundary sign 
located near the confluence of White River and the Yukon River to a fishing 
boundary sign located approximately 800m downstream from the confluence of 
Tatchun Creek and the Yukon River other than described in section 6(15)(a), 
(b), (c), and (d) of the Yukon Territory Fishing Regulations will open to 
domestic salmon fishing for a 38 day period 12:00 hours (Noon), September 7, 
2012 until 12:00 hours (Noon), October 15, 2012.

The following information should be noted:

1.For clarification, the following areas remain closed to domestic fishing:
a)the portion of the Yukon River downstream of Sheep Rock;
b)the portion of the Yukon River between Big Creek and the Pelly River;
c)all tributaries of the Yukon River except portions of the Stewart and 
  Pelly Rivers;
d)in the Pelly River watershed upstream from the confluence of the Pelly
  and Macmillan Rivers;
e)upstream from the confluence of the Stewart and McQuesten Rivers;
f)upstream from a fishing boundary sign located approx. 800m downstream from 
the confluence of Tatchun Creek and the Yukon River;
g)between the fishing boundary signs located approx. 800 m upstream from the 
confluence of the Yukon and Klondike Rivers to a point approx. 1.6km downstream 
from that confluence; and
h)any portion of the Yukon River not described as an open area above.

2.All fish wheels must be stopped and nets are to be completely out of the 
water during the closed time.

Important: Licence holders are reminded to refer to Conditions of the 2012 
Yukon River Domestic Salmon Licence regarding specific requirements for 
reporting when a fishery is open for more than 7 consecutive days.
