One active spot spawn in same area. Kitasu Bay - March 31 ¾ mile long spawn half between Wilby Pt and Parsons Anchorage. East Higgins Passage - No active spawn April 01, but fish in shallows inside the large lagoon at the north end of Price Island and on Price Island east of Lohbrunner Island. Mathieson Channel/Powell Anchorage - No spawn to-date but marine life continues to indicate presence of fish in the area. Gunboat Passage - spot spawn April 01 in Hampden Bay, not much fish sounded near the spawning area. Kwakume Inlet - A 1.2 mile spawn April 01 extending from Kwakume Point Light southward. Joassa Channel - March 30th a spot spawn at Quinoot Pt. Spiller Channel - To-date the total spawn area extends from the entrance of Spiller Inlet to about 1.5 miles south of the Lagoon. Estimate 11 miles of spawn in total, 1 to 2 layers thick. Spiller Inlet - A narrow band, two miles long of light spawn found on the western shore south of the narrows. Could be more spawn north of the narrows but inlet is currently iced up. Troup Passage - Dive survey assessment found 11 miles of spawn, estimate 2 to 3 layers and 10 meter wide on average. *Not included in major stock area Scratches - Herring present in small schools 1 to 2 tons Skimmer - Herring spread out near the surface, difficult to quantify Fish on bottom - Herring too close to the bottom to quantify Washed out spawn - Spawn that is coming to an end Miles - Means nautical miles for this bulletin Sooke Post in Bella Bella weathering storm, Christav and Franciscan No 1 finished for the year. Ocean Cloud in Spiller Channel for spawn assessment.
