Opening 00:01 hours February 11, 2012 in the following Geoduck Management Areas (GMAs). An asterisk indicates a change in area description since the last rotation. SUMMARY: GMA 13B, Marina Island GMA 13C, Southwest Cortes Island GMA 13D, Northwest Cortes Island Variation Order 2012-059 Fishery Continues in: GMA 14D, Hornby Island Variation Order 2012-029 GMA 14B02, North Comox Bar (outside) GMA 14B03, North Comox Bar (inside) Variation Order 2012-005 Note: See Fishery Notice No. FN089 Bivalve Shellfish Marine Biotoxin Update, as recommended by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and issued by DFO. DETAILS: GMA 13B, Marina Island: Portions of Subarea 13-14 and 13-15 including the waters surrounding Marina Island from the shoreline to the 20m depth contour. GMA 13C, Southwest Cortes Island: Portions of Subareas 13-15, 13-14 and 13-1 described as that portion of Subarea 13-15 within 0.5 nautical miles of the shore of Cortes Island, excluding the waters surrounding Marina Island to the 20m depth contour and those portions of Subareas 13-14 and 13-1 within a 1.5 nautical mile radius of Sutil Point. GMA 13D, Northwest Cortes Island: Subareas 13-16 and 13-17, inclusive. NOTES: West Coast Vancouver Island and North Coast areas are indentified on separate Fishery Notices. See the 2012 Geoduck and Horse Clam Integrated Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) for a more detailed description of the Fishing Protocol. The On-Grounds Monitor and/or Archipelago Marine Research will direct the fleet through geoduck beds and GMAs.
