FN1043-General - PFMAs 5-23, 5-24 - Pollution response operations in Grenville Channel - October 10-31, 2024


Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) is notifying harvesters of upcoming marine works oil removal project in Grenville Channel. The historic wreck of the Brigadier General Zalinski continues to cause sheens that have been observed along Grenville Channel. As a result, there will be a Bulk Oil Removal operation expected to take place October 10-31. 

Protective equipment is staged at key locations available to protect sensitive  shoreline and a NAVWARN NW-P-1603-24 is in place. 

Harvesters are advised to exercise caution with regards to the response operations and avoid the area if possible.
