Fishery Notice

Lake Babine Nation ESSR fishery opportunity, opening September 13, 2024 at 00:01 hours and closing September 19, 2024 at 23:59 hours in Babine Lake, adjacent to the Fulton River Spawning Channel. The target species in this fishery is Sockeye Salmon.

This fishery is being conducted using selective gear methods only. All non-target species must be released immediately. A designation is required to participate in ESSR fisheries. Designations are provided by the licence holder/Nation noted above.

This fishery was included in the draft 2024/25 Northern BC Salmon Integrated Fishery Management Plan (IFMP) for public review and feedback prior to approval. This is a limited entry fishery, with only harvesters designated for this fishery allowed to participate. This fishery is taking place as described in the final 2024/25 IFMP.
