FN0085-Release of Draft Five Nations Multi-Species Fishery Management Plan 2022/23 - Salmon, Groundfish, Crab, Prawn, Gooseneck Barnacle, and Sea Cucumber for Consultation
The draft Five Nations Multi-Species Fishery Management Plan (FMP) outlines the proposed fishing opportunities for the Five Nations (Ahousaht, Ehattesaht, Hesquiaht, Mowachaht/Muchalaht and Tla-o-qui-aht) in 2022/23 to exercise their rights to harvest and sell salmon, groundfish, crab, prawn, gooseneck barnacles, and Sea Cucumber within the Court Defined Area. The draft FMP outlines specific harvesting opportunities including access, licensing and designations, fishing area, management measures, and fishery monitoring and catch reporting requirements. Section 2 of the FMP lists key changes made to the 2021 FMP following the April 19, 2021 British Columbia Court of Appeal decision along with items that remain under review by DFO and other Five Nations' requests. Comments on the draft FMP may be provided in writing via email to PAC.FMP.Consultation-Consultation.PGP.PAC@dfo-mpo.gc.ca. The deadline for submission of comments is March 4, 2022. Copies of the draft FMP may be obtained online at the link: ftp://ftp.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/GorukA/ To open the link it may be copied into a web browser (Internet Explorer or Safari) or into File Explorer using Windows.
