FN0227-Changes to 2019/20 and 2020/21 Trawl Harvest Plan regarding Arrowtooth Flounder Management and Extension of Trawl Reallocation Requests for the 2019/20 Season effective immediately.
Groundfish Trawl licence holders and harvesters are advised of the following changes to the management of Arrowtooth Flounder. These changes were recommended by the Groundfish Trawl Advisory Committee on January 30, 2020. - A reduction of the 2020/2021 Arrowtooth TAC from 14,000 tonnes to 5,000 tonnes; - A reduction to the 2019/2020 quota carryover allowance from 30 per cent to 10 per cent; - A reduction Reducing the amount of temporary quota a licence can hold from 17 per cent to 8 per cent of the TAC; Consultation on further management measures, including spatial closures prohibiting fishing with bottom trawl gear, are planned to occur during the spring of 2020. In order to accommodate these changes GMU will accept quota reallocation requests for the 2019/20 trawl fishery until Noon on Friday, March 13, 2020.
