FN0686-RECREATIONAL- Salmon - Subarea 23-1 - Tidal portions of Somass River Extended Open Time
The open time for the tidal portion of the Somass River has been extended for the following times; Effective from 06:00 hours to 22:00 hours daily from July 24, 2014 to July 31, 2014 the following area remains open: that portion of Subarea 23-1 in the lower Somass River, north of a line commencing at a boundary sign in upper Alberni Harbour situated at 49°14.19' north latitude and 124°50.23' west longitude thence through the southern most point of Hoik Island thence to the flashing green light at the mouth of the Somass River thence due east to a boundary sign on the opposite shore except for: the following area which remains closed that portion of subarea 23-1 in the tidal portion of the Somass River from signs located near the bottom of the rapids directly upstream of Papermill Dam park pool, downstream to boundary signs located on both sides of the Somass River, approximately 60 metres downstream from the northern tip of the unnamed island directly below Paper Mill Dam Pool. VO# 2014-332 The Port Alberni Sport Fishing Advisory Committee, the Hupacasath and Tseshaht First Nations, Area B Seine fleet, Area D Gillnet fleet, and DFO have agreed to extend this fishery in the tidal portion of the Somass River.
