FN0600-RECREATIONAL - Salmon - Region 2 - Fraser River: Mission Bridge to Alexandra Bridge - Chinook Management Actions - Amendment to FN0500
Amendment to FN0500: The full corrected version of the notice follows. Further to FN0496 which confirmed the predicted return of Fraser River Spring and Summer 5-2 chinook returns to the Fraser River is in management zone 2, please note the following: In the waters of the Fraser River in Region 2 (from the downstream side of the Mission Bridge to downstream side of the Alexandra Bridge) the following management actions, that apply to chinook salmon fishing only, are in effect during the dates and times listed below. Currently in effect until 23:59 hours July 15, 2014, there is no fishing for salmon. Effective one hour before sunrise July 16, 2014 until one hour after sunset July 27, 2014, the daily limit for chinook salmon (wild or hatchery marked) is one (1) chinook salmon per day with a maximum size limit of 77 cm. Effective one hour before sunrise July 28, 2014 until one hour after sunset August 31, 2014, the daily limit for chinook salmon (wild or hatchery marked) is four (4) chinook salmon per day only one (1) of which may be greater than 50 cm. Effective one hour before sunrise September 1, 2014 until one hour after sunset December 31, 2014, the daily limit for chinook salmon (wild or hatchery marked) is four (4) chinook salmon per day only one (1) of which may be greater than 62 cm. VO# 2014-120, 133 and 311 Notes: Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal and non-tidal waters of British Columbia. The term "hatchery marked" means a fish that has a healed scar in place of the adipose fin. Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and coho salmon. Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for coast-wide stock assessment. Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program toll free at (866) 483-9994 for further information. Rockfish Conservation Areas that are currently in effect and are closed to all fin fishing.
