FN1080-SANITARY - Rainfall Warning issued - Central Coast, North Vancouver Island, West Vancouver Island, Howe Sound, North Shore and Metro Vancouver
Please be advised that the following rainfall statements were issued today by Environment and Climate Change Canada for Central Coast, North Vancouver Island, West Vancouver Island, Howe Sound, North Shore and Metro Vancouver. Rainfall warnings serve to alert shellfish growers that an approaching storm may overload wastewater treatment facilities and their collection systems, and result in excess surface runoff and flooding that may lead to emergency shellfish harvesting closures. Shellfish growers should adjust their harvesting plans accordingly. Alerts for: North Vancouver Island, West Vancouver Island and Central Coast Issued at 2017-10-16 11:40 UTC by Environment Canada: Rainfall warning issued for: North Vancouver Island, B.C. (081200) West Vancouver Island, B.C. (081400) Central Coast - coastal sections, B.C. (082100) Current details: Rain, at times heavy, is expected. A frontal system over central BC will slowly move southward today spreading significant amount of rainfall over parts of the south coast. Rain will taper off on Tuesday as the front moves eastward. Rainfall amounts are expected to be near 100 mm by Tuesday morning. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Alerts for: Howe Sound, North Shore and Metro Vancouver Issued at 2017-10-16 11:41 UTC by Environment Canada: Rainfall warning issued for: Howe Sound, B.C. (082500) North Shore - including West Vancouver and North Vancouver, B.C. (082610) Metro Vancouver - northeast including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge, B.C. (082630-082714) Current details: Heavy rain is expected. A frontal system over central BC will slowly move southward today spreading significant amount of rainfall over parts of the south coast. Rain will taper off on Tuesday as the front moves eastward. Rainfall amounts are expected to be near 50 - 70 mm by Tuesday morning. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
