There were fish in the shallows near Little River and schools located in the Horseshoe. The seine fishery resumed at 07:45 hours and is underway in the Horseshoe in PFMA 14-9, 14-12, and 14-13 near Cape Lazo. The catch estimate from March 6 is 2,400 tons of the 13,013 ton quota, based on hails with no catch validations. The estimated catch from the fishery today March 8 on hails so far is 2,400 tons, for a total fishery catch of 4,800 tons. The roe herring gill net fishery opened at 11:00 hours on March 4. The catch estimate is 6,000 tons of the 15,171 ton quota. Spawn flight this morning observed: 2.0 NM Nuttal Bay medium to heavy; Northwest Bay, wash, 0.7 NM; Big Qualicum, medium, 3.5 NM; Willimar Bluff to Little River Ferry, medium to heavy, 4.5; Little River to Kitty Coleman med to heavy. Total miles of spawn to date observed from the flights are approximately 30 NM. There will be a spawn flight tomorrow morning, weather permitting. A reminder to the fleet transiting the Nanoose area that Whiskey Gulf Range is active today.
