Area 15
Effective immediately there is a harvest prohibition for geoduck and horse 
clams in Subarea 15-2. 

The product may be contaminated given the deviance from the sampling 
requirements established under the biotoxin monitoring program.

Please see the summary table for the status of all subareas in Area 15. 

Area 23
Effective immediately the harvest prohibition for geoduck and horse clams is 
lifted in Subarea 23-10. 

The most recent marine biotoxin results were acceptable.

SUMMARY:

The following information in this fishery notice reflects Paralytic Shellfish 
Poisoning (PSP, red tide), Domoic Acid Poisoning (also known as Amnesic 
Shellfish Poisoning (ASP)), Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) and other 
marine toxin closures as of December 15, 2015 for bivalve shellfish (oysters, 
clams, scallops, mussels, and geoduck).  Note that this fishery notice does not 
describe sewage contamination closures. For information on sewage contamination

Area 1
Subarea 1-5 open to razor clams and cockles only, closed to all other bivalve 
shellfish; 
Balance of Area 1 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 2
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 3
Subareas 3-1 to 3-3 open to geoduck and horse clams only, closed to all other 
bivalve shellfish;  
Balance of Area 3 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 4
Subarea 4-1 and that portion of Subarea 4-5 west of 130 degrees 35 minutes west 
longitude open to geoduck and horse clams only, closed to all other bivalve 
shellfish; 
The waters and intertidal foreshore of a portion of Subarea 4-9 inside a line 
that commences at a point on the shore of Digby Island at 54°17.371' north 
latitude and 130°27.654' west longitude, thence to a point on the shore of the 
largest of the Lucy Islands at 54°17.666' north latitude and 130°36.575 west 
longitude, thence to a point on the shore of Rachel Island at 54°12.770' north 
latitude and 130°33.643' west longitude, thence to a point on the shore of 
Digby Island at 54°15.865' north latitude and 130°25.623' west longitude, 
thence following the shore of Digby Island to the point of commencement open to 
scallops only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;  
Balance of Area 4 closed to all bivalve shellfish. 

Areas 5 to 6 
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 7 
Subareas 7-9, 7-12, 7-15, 7-17, 7-21 and 7-24 open to manila clams, littleneck 
clams, oysters and mussels only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;  
Balance of Area 7 closed to all bivalve shellfish. 

Areas 8 to 11
Closed to all bivalve shellfish.
 
Area 12
Subareas 12-16 and 12-17 open to butter clams and cockles only, closed to all 
other bivalve shellfish; 
That portion of 12-39 South of a line drawn at Sharp Point on Broughton Island 
at (50° 47.467'N, 126° 36.090' W) proceeding westerly down Fife Sound into 
Nowell Channel intersecting the boundary with PFMA 12-7 at (50° 45.006' N, 126° 
47.224' W) open to butter clams and cockles only, closed to all other bivalve 
shellfish;
Balance of Area 12 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 13
Subarea 13-1 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters, mussels and pink 
and spiny scallops only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;
Subareas 13-12 to 13-14 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters, 
mussels and scallops only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;
Subareas 13-15 and 13-16 closed to geoduck and horse clams only;
Subarea 13-17 closed to butter clams, geoduck and horse clams only;
Balance of Area 13 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 14 
Subareas 14-1 to 14-4 and 14-13 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters 
and mussels only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;
Subareas 14-5 and 14-8 closed to butter clams, geoduck and horse clams only;
Subareas 14-6, 14-9, 14-10, 14-12 and 14-14 closed to butter clams, scallops, 
geoduck and horse clams only; 
Subareas 14-7 and 14-11 closed to scallops, geoduck and horse clams only;

Area 15
Subareas 15-1 to 15-3 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and

Subarea 15-5 except that portion south of a line drawn from a point on the 
northeast shoreline of Raza Island at 50°18.26' north latitude and 124°58.10' 
west longitude, thence easterly to a point on the west coast of West Redonda 
Island at 50°18.12' north latitude and 124°55.48' west longitude, thence 
southerly following the shoreline of West Redonda Island to a point at 50°
12.29' north latitude and 124°56.55' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a 
point on the northeast coast of Cortes Island at 50°11.74' north latitude and 
124°56.94' west longitude, thence northwesterly following the shoreline of 
Cortes Island to Bullock Bluff, thence true north following the boundary line 
to Raza Island, and thence following the shoreline northeasterly back to the 
point of commencement open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters, mussels 
and scallops only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish; 
That portion of Subarea 15-5 south of a line drawn from a point on the 
northeast shoreline of Raza Island at 50°18.26' north latitude and 124°58.10' 
west longitude, thence easterly to a point on the west coast of West Redonda 
Island at 50°18.12' north latitude and 124°55.48' west longitude, thence 
southerly following the shoreline of West Redonda Island to a point at 50°
12.29' north latitude and 124°56.55' west longitude, thence southwesterly to a 
point on the northeast coast of Cortes Island at 50°11.74' north latitude and 
124°56.94' west longitude, thence northwesterly following the shoreline of 
Cortes Island to Bullock Bluff, thence true north following the boundary line 
to Raza Island, and thence following the shoreline northeasterly back to the

mussels and butter clams only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish; 
Subarea 17-16 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters, mussels, butter 
clams and cockles only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish; 
Subarea 17-20 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters, mussels and 
scallops only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish.   

Area 18
Subareas 18-2, 18-3 and 18-7 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters 
and mussels only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;

Area 19
Subareas 19-5 and 19-6 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and 
mussels only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;

Area 20
Subareas 20-1 to 20-5 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and

Areas 21 to 22

Area 23
Subareas 23-3 to 23-6 (except that portion of Subarea 23-6 northeast of a line 
drawn from a point of land at 48 degrees 58.47 minutes north latitude and 125 
degrees 04.92 minutes west longitude to a point of land at 48 degrees 58.61 
minutes north latitude and 125 degrees 05.05 minutes west longitude, known as 
Useless Inlet) open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and mussels 
only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish;
Subarea 23-10 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters, mussels, 
scallops, geoduck and horse clams only, closed to all other bivalve shellfish; 
Balance of Area 23 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 24
Subareas 24-6 to 24-8 open to geoduck and horse clams only, closed to all other 
bivalve shellfish;
Subarea 24-9 open to manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and mussels only, 
closed to all other bivalve shellfish; 
Balance of Area 24 closed to all bivalve shellfish.

Area 25
Subareas 25-1 to 25-7, 25-11 and 25-15 open to manila clams, littleneck clams,

Area 27

NOTES:
Details are broken into Areas and Subareas, as managed by Fisheries and Oceans 
Canada (DFO).  Subarea information is not in the British Columbia Tidal Waters 
Sport Fishing Guide, but it is readily available in non-navigable Subarea 
management charts that can be obtained at DFO offices.  In addition, 
descriptions of Subareas are set out in the Pacific Fishery Management Area 
Regulations, 2007.  These regulations are available at libraries and from the 
DFO Pacific Internet at:
