FN1345- Sanitary - Changes to Sanitary Closures for Bivalve Shellfish in Areas 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 23, and 24


The following new, revised or revoked sanitary shellfish closure boundaries are 
now in effect as a result of recommendations from the Pacific Region 
Interdepartmental Shellfish Committee: 

Closure 13.A	Mansons Landing, Cortes Island - the existing closure has 
been revoked.

Closure 14.30	Qualicum River Estuary - a new closure is now in effect in 
the following area:

The intertidal foreshore of the Qualicum River Estuary from a point on land at 
49° 24.10' north latitude and 124° 36.76' west longitude, thence southeasterly 
following the intertidal boundary to a point on land at 49° 23.70' north 
latitude and 124° 36.26' west longitude."  [NAD 83]

Closure 15.16	Theodosia Inlet - the existing closure has been expanded and 
is now in effect in the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of Theodosia Inlet inside a line commencing 
from the western edge of a cobble beach at 50° 03.92' north latitude and 124° 
41.27' west longitude, located on the south side of the entrance to Theodosia 
Inlet, thence northwesterly across the entrance of Theodosia Inlet to a point 
of land at 50°04.04' north latitude and 124° 41.54' west longitude, located 
east of Galahad Point, thence along the northern foreshore to a horizontal cave 
entrance at 50°04.22' north latitude and 124°41.43' west longitude, thence 
northeasterly across the waters of Theodosia Inlet to a point of land at 50° 
04.44' north latitude and 124° 40.54' west longitude, located at the south end 
of a small peninsula, thence clockwise along the intertidal foreshore to the 
point of commencement. [NAD83]

Closure 15.30	Southern entrance to Theodosia Inlet - a new closure is now 
in effect in the following area:

The intertidal foreshore of the southern entrance to Theodosia Inlet from the 
western edge of a cobble beach at 50° 03.92' north latitude and 124° 41.27' 
west longitude, thence westerly along the intertidal boundary to a point on 
land at 50° 03.91' north latitude and 124°41.72' west longitude [NAD83]

Closure 17.28	Vancouver Island between Icarus Point and Neck Point - the 
existing closure has been revoked.
		
Closure 17.42	Southeasterly of Icarus Point - the existing closure has 
been revoked.

Closure 17.44	Southeast of Icarus Point to west of Neck Point - a new 
closure is now in effect in the following area:

The intertidal foreshore from a point on land at 49º 14.86' north latitude and 
124º 01.93' west longitude southeast of Icarus Point following the intertidal 
boundary southeasterly to a point on land at 49° 14.34' north latitude and 123° 
59.81' west longitude approximately 2.5 km west of Neck Point."  [NAD 83]

Closure 17.A	Tent Island - the existing closure has been revoked.

Closure 18.34	A portion of Narvaez Bay - a new closure is now in effect in 
the following area:

The waters and intertidal foreshore of the head of Narvaez Bay lying west of a 
line drawn from a point on land at 48º 46.75' north latitude and 123º 06.36' 
west longitude thence southwesterly to a point on land at 48° 46.59' north 
latitude and 123° 6.44' west longitude."  [NAD 83]

Closure 19.12	Bazan Bay - the existing closure has been expanded and is 
now in effect in the following area:

The waters of Bazan Bay, Little Group Islands, and Tsehum Harbour inside a line 
drawn from a point on land at 48°37.65' north latitude and 123°24.61' west 
longitude, thence southeasterly to a point in the water at 48°36.67' north 
latitude and 123°23.20' west longitude, thence northeasterly to a point in the 
water at 48°37.08' north latitude and 123°22.73' west longitude, thence 
northeasterly to a point in the water at 48°37.56' north latitude and 123°
21.89' west longitude, thence northerly to a point on Dock Island at 48°40.29' 
north latitude and 123°21.78' west longitude, thence northwesterly to Curteis 
Point at 48°40.48' north latitude and 123°23.80' west longitude."  [NAD 83]

Closure 19.14	Saanichton Bay - a new closure is now in effect in the 
following area:

The waters of Saanichton Bay south of a line drawn from a point on land on the 
Saanich Peninsula at 49°36.26' north latitude and 123º23.67' west longitude, 
thence southeasterly to a point in the water at 49°35.91' north latitude and 
123º22.29' west longitude, thence due south to the tip of Cordova Spit."  [NAD 
83]

Closure 23.14	South of Bazett Island - the existing closure has been 
revoked.

Closure 24.14	Millar Channel - a new closure is now in effect in the 
following area:

Those waters of Millar Channel inside a line that begins at a point in water at 
49°17.72'N 126°03.16'W then to a point in water at 49°17.72'N 126°02.74'W then 
to a point in water at 49°16.91'N 126°01.93'W then to a point in water at 49°
16.75'N 126°01.80'W then to a point in water at 49°16.59'N 126°01.73'W then to 
a point in water at 49°16.15'N 126°01.67'W then to a point in water at 49°
15.77'N 126°01.62'W then to a point in water at 49°15.00'N 126°01.38'W then to 
a point in water at 49°14.97'N 126°01.72'W then to a point in water at 49°
16.16'N 126°02.09'W then to a point in water at 49°16.44'N 126°02.22'W then to 
a point in water at 49°16.66'N 126°02.36'W then to a point in water at 49°
16.78'N 126°02.48'W then to a point in water at 49°16.87'N 126°02.58'W then to 
a point in water at 49°16.90'N 126°02.77'W then to a point in water at 49°
17.05'N 126°02.92'W then northwesterly back to the point of commencement.
