Fishery Notice

At the request of local anglers and following a review by DFO Stock Assessment, 
Subarea 13-22, commonly known and described as those waters of Bute Inlet lying 
north of a line running from a marker at Alpha Bluff to a marker on the 
opposite shore, will remain open to the retention of chinook for the month of 
May 2015. Note the head of Bute Inlet is a Rockfish Conservation Area defined 
as those waters of Subarea 13-22 that lie northerly of a line from Littleton 
Point to a point on the opposite shoreline located at 50 degrees 49.900 minutes 
north by 124 degrees 51.629 minutes west.  

This opening extension is predicated on fishers participating in the DFO log 
book and sampling programs. Subarea 13-22 will revert to the non-retention of 
chinook effective 00:01 hours June 1, 2015 to 23:59 hours September 30, 2015.

Notes:

Barbless hooks are required when fishing for salmon in tidal waters of British 
Columbia.  

The term "marked" means a hatchery fish that has a healed scar in place of the 
adipose fin.

Sport anglers are encouraged to participate in the Salmon Sport Head Recovery 
program by labelling and submitting heads from adipose fin-clipped chinook and 
coho salmon.  Recovery of coded-wire tags provides critical information for 
coast-wide stock assessment.  Contact the Salmon Sport Head Recovery Program

Anglers are advised to check http://bcsportfishguide.ca for fishing closures 
and other recreational fishing information.
