The herring industry test vessel Viking Cavalier was assessing on Feb 22 and 23, and will stand down until herring roe maturity increases in a few days. The largest biomass of fish has been sounded in the area between the NE side of Denman Island and Cape Lazo in the Horseshoe. There also have been herring located in the area above Cape Lazo up to Oyster River. The management vessel CCGC Neocaligus is assessing Baynes Sound area, however no fish have moved into Baynes Sound to date. There is no spawn overflight scheduled for the next several days.
